The Max Therapy Institute is one of Australia's leading private institutions offering the Advanced Diploma of Remedial Massage/Myotherapy and the Diploma of Remedial/Sports Massage. Both courses offer extensive training in sports therapy and musculo skeletal assessment and treatment. Course levels range from Certificate IV to Advanced Diploma levels and the College offers day and evening courses. The evening course is part-time and is ideally suited to students who need to continue full-time employment. Additionally, the College offers On Line Learning for rural based students. Country residents can learn their theory subjects on-line, but travel to the College for practical subjects. Initially this is one day per week. All courses at the College are nationally accredited and Austudy approved. The College has payment plans to assist students financially. NMIT offers the nationally accredited Diploma of Remedial Massage (HLT50302) as a full time course across 18 months. Students who satisfactorily complete this course are eligible to enrol for a further 12 months of study in the Advanced Diploma of Remedial Massage (Myotherapy) (21511VIC). The course at NMIT has been carefully developed in line with national delivery guidelines and takes into account current delivery practices and future trends within the health industry. High standards of delivery and assessment requirements ensure that graduates are qualified to take their place in the industry as highly competent practitioners. NMIT courses are structured to give students a balance of theory and practical learning.

The application of Myotherapy requires a comprehensive theoretical knowledge in the biomedical and clinical sciences combined with a proficiency in clinical reasoning and the dexterity to utilize discipline-specific manual skills. These attributes must also be supported with communication and management skills, an appreciation of legal and ethical issues as well as an understanding of potential psychological issues.
As a four-year professional degree, this course has established a new benchmark in the field of Myotherapy and provides the skills, training and academic rigour required to further validate this form of manual therapy. Graduates of this degree are equipped with the knowledge and skills to place them at the forefront of treatment in the areas of musculoskeletal and myofascial pain.
