Be recognised by over 50 health funds and WorkCover authorities

Our high standards and strict criteria allows us to recruit the best natural therapists in the country, and satisfy the legislation and rules required by health funds. As a result, health funds and WorkCover insurers regard ANTA members as the benchmark for natural therapists, with recognition from over 50 of them (full list below). We satisfy the legislation and rules required by all health funds.

As an ANTA member, your customers’ health funds and WorkCover insurers are highly likely to recognise your expertise, and accept claims without issue. This is something that we encourage you to advertise, as it opens up a huge number of potential customers for your practice.

In addition to the practitioner directory, we actively promote and advertise ANTA members through our website, marketing campaigns, health and lifestyle publications, exhibitions, and more, which will increase the number of leads that you receive for your practice, and the bottom line of your business.

Be represented and endorsed by Australian’s largest democratic natural therapy association

As a historic, trusted association of highly skilled practitioners, ANTA is the benchmark for natural therapy in Australia. Having the might of our association behind you will help you to market your business, give you access to over 50 health funds and WorkCover insurers, allow you to influence national policy, and much more.

World-class professional development resources

Professional development is critical to maintaining high standards of healthcare, which is why we provide extensive professional development resources to our members. This includes access to world-class scientific resources such as IMGateway and eMIMS (more info on these below), free seminars, webinars, lectures, our quarterly journal, and much more.

Every ANTA member must complete a minimum of 20 Continuing Professional Education (CPE) hours a year, and we have a profusion of valuable, up-to-date content to help them do so. As a student undertaking a natural therapy course, you will also get access to many of these resources, to supplement your education and enhance your professional development.

Free scientific resources

We provide free access to the following leading scientific sources:

IMgateway—a collection of over 700 evidence-based journals and 6,000 scientific monographs based on complementary medicine, written by thousands of practitioners covering a range of conditions, herbs, supplements, and drugs.

eMIMS—a database that contains information on natural therapies products, contraindications with products and clinical resource indexes.

Free annual seminars

ANTA’s annual seminars feature natural therapy experts renowned in their field and are a great way to accumulate your mandatory CPE hours. We hold our seminars in major cities across the country—Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth. There’s also the opportunity to win prizes and product samples.

Access to ANTA’s quarterly journal—The Natural Therapist

The Natural Therapist is the official journal of the Australian Natural Therapists Association—a high-quality journal that showcases products and services of interest to natural therapists. Each quarterly issue includes a selection of natural therapy articles written by experts, from a range of modalities including acupuncture, herbal medicine, nutrition, naturopathy, manual therapies and more.

ANTA members are also encouraged to submit articles for the publication.

Influence critical issues such as national policy

As a peak body representing the pinnacle of the profession, ANTA is represented and involved with all levels of Federal and State Government. Every ANTA member can attend our general meetings where we discuss and vote on critical issues, as well as elect representatives to sit on our board of directors. As an ANTA member, this gives you a voice that can influence policy affecting your modality, improving it in important ways, and making it richer for all.

Be a member of an association that supports statutory registration

To be legitimate and trustworthy, natural therapy modalities must be included in the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme (NRAS), and to help achieve this aim, ANTA is involved in extensive, ongoing government lobbying. By becoming a member, you’ll be helping to support our association in this endeavour and the future of our industry.

Create classified adverts, and post on our digital noticeboard

Reach our huge network of members with a classified advertisement. You might create an advert to find an exceptional new member of staff, to hunt down a rare educational resource, or to acquire a natural therapy business. Members can also post on our digital noticeboard for free.

Win an annual bursary award

At ANTA, we understand the efficacy of natural therapy, and we want to do everything we can to encourage students to pursue careers in this field. We believe that money shouldn’t be an obstacle to studying natural therapy, so in 2006, we created the ANTA National Student Bursary Awards Program, to provide financial support for people studying an ANTA-recognised natural therapy. We’ve given more than $170,000 to students since the bursary awards were started.

The awards are also open to qualified practitioners who are completing additional study.
