The Great Compendium of Acupuncture & Moxibustion: Zhen Jiu Da Cheng: Volume 1

By YANG Jizhou, translated by Sabine Wilms.

This encyclopedic Ming dynasty work on Acupuncture and Moxibustion is one of THE great classics of Chinese medicine. It is seen as the acumoxa counterpart of the Bencao by Li Shizhen. It is voluminous and complex in nature and has therefore been unavailable to the West until now. This lead volume defines the classical framework of meridian science and offers a selection of quotations related to acupuncture and moxibustion from the Han period classics Huang Di Nei Jing (Inner Classic of the Yellow Emperor) and Nan Jing (Classic of Difficult Issues), with explanations added by Yang Jizhou.

Sabine has taken on the formidable task of rendering this volume into English with passion and expertise and allows Chinese medicine in the West to still have roots of understanding to this creational period of Chinese medicine.

Energetics in Acupuncture: Five Element Acupuncture Made Easy

By the author of 'Cosmetic Acupuncture' Radha Thambirajah.

Energetics is an area of growing interest and importance in acupuncture. Acupuncture treatment aims to correct the imbalance of energy, or qi; energetics is a method of diagnosing which aspects of qi are out of balance. 'Energetics in Acupuncture' provides a straight forward diagnostic method of identifying which aspects of the qi are out of balance and therefore what acupuncture treatment is required.

Radha's approach is that of energy balancing as defined by some of the original scholars of Chinese Medicine and involves choosing points to allow energy to flow between the organs therefore correcting imbalances in energy flow by sending energy from areas of excess to areas of deficiency. This goes far beyond just treating symptomatically and aims to improve the general well being of the patient.

The text is laid out in three parts:
1. The Theory
2. The Energy Balancing Laws
3. The diseases: symptoms and treatments

FEATURES: Treatments are described for over 80 different diseases : Innovative visual 'towers' show clearly what an energy imbalance looks like : Case studies illustrate imbalanced states.

RRP $76 - student/practitioner price $64.60, 2010, Hardback, 459pages.
