Manual Therapy For Musculoskeletal Pain

Studies suggest that manual therapy (MT) is effective in the treatment of musculoskeletal pain; however, the mechanisms through which manual therapy established its effects are not established. In this study, we present a comprehensive model to direct future research in manual therapy. The model suggests that a mechanical force from manual therapy initiates a cascade of neurophysiological responses from the peripheral and central nervous system which are then responsible for the clinical outcomes.
