ANTA are pleased to inform members of a significant milestone in our advocacy efforts for Naturopathy, Western Herbal Medicine and Shiatsu.
The Natural Therapies Review Expert Advisory Panel (NTREAP) has officially submitted its recommendations to the Federal Health Minister, which are now publicly available on the Department of Health website. Refer link: Natural Therapies Review 2024 Report
The NTREAP Report recommendations support the reinstatement of Naturopathy, Western Herbal Medicine and Shiatsu as eligible for private health insurance rebates – a positive step forward in recognising the preventive and holistic value of natural therapies.
ANTA has long been at the forefront of advocating for the inclusion of these important natural healthcare modalities in private health insurance schemes, emphasising their evidence-based benefits in disease prevention, chronic condition management, and reducing healthcare system burdens.
While these NTREAP recommendations are promising, ANTA plans to remain vigilant as further advocacy may be required to ensure they are acted upon and implemented.
ANTA’s advocacy will also continue to extend beyond private health insurance to broader healthcare policy discussions, by continuing to push for:
- Recognition of the preventive health benefits of all evidence-based Natural Therapies
- Integration of Natural Therapies into multidisciplinary healthcare approaches
- Inclusion of Natural Therapies in government healthcare reviews and decision processes.
To that end ANTA will continue to represent members interests with policymakers and stakeholders to secure tangible outcomes for our members.
ANTA will continue to keep members updated of developments as they unfold.
