ANTA is Australia’s largest democratic association of natural therapists. Established in 1955, we represent thousands of natural therapists from a wide range of modalities, including acupuncture, nutrition, herbal medicine, and various types of massage.

1. What are the prerequisites?

Member level membership and accreditation with ANTA is available for graduates who have a Bachelor or Masters Degree qualification in the following modalities:

  • Acupuncture (CMBA registration required)
  • Ayurvedic Medicine
  • Chinese Herbal Medicine (CMBA registration required)
  • Homeopathy
  • Musculoskeletal Therapy
  • Myotherapy
  • Naturopathy
  • Nutrition
  • Western Herbal Medicine

Member A level membership and accreditation with ANTA is available for graduates who have a Diploma or Advanced Diploma qualification in the following modalities:

  • Aromatherapy
  • Ayurveda
  • Myotherapy
  • Remedial Therapy
  • Oriental Remedial Therapy
  • Shiatsu Therapy
  • TCM Remedial Massage

2. What do I need to do to join?

To be eligible for accreditation with the Australian Natural Therapists Association (ANTA) you are required to have completed a course that is recognised by ANTA. Review our recognised courses to obtain information on colleges and courses ANTA recognises for accreditation.

4. Who is your insurance company?

5. What kind of insurance do I need?

ANTA members are required to have current Professional Indemnity Insurance of at least $2 million (plus minimum $10 million public liability) to be registered as providers with health funds. CMBA registered modalities are required to have a minimum of $5 million in professional indemnity. This covers your legal responsibilities to pay damages and legal expenses arising from personal injury to a third party (patient) or damage to their property.

6. What is IELTS?

IELTS – International English Language Testing System, is an international standardised test of English language proficiency for non-native English speakers.

7. Do I need IELTS?

If you are wanting to join ANTA as a practitioner and you come from a non-English speaking background, you will need to provide us with proof of an IELTS level 5 or higher test. This can be the IELTS, TOEFL, or proof of English competency granted for Visa approval.

Working in healthcare requires practitioners to be able to effectively communicate with their clients, explain treatments and obtain informed consent, and write treatment notes in English.
